Before: Closed-Off and Underutilized
The original pantry functioned as a storage-heavy space with outdated oak cabinetry and limited accessibility. Its closed-off design disrupted the natural flow between the kitchen and dining room, creating separation where connection was needed.
After: Open, Functional, and Designed for Entertaining
This reimagined butler’s pantry features custom cabinetry, modern finishes, and a purposeful layout designed for entertaining and everyday convenience. With the addition of a second dishwasher, sink, and wine cooler, the space now functions as a true extension of the kitchen while enhancing flow to the dining area.
History:
After purchasing the home, the homeowners wanted updates that reflected today’s style of living, with a stronger focus on connection, functionality, and entertaining. Ground Zero designer Jan Elizabeth identified an opportunity to transform the closed-off pantry into a true butler’s pantry by creating a direct connection between the kitchen and dining room.
By opening the space and completely redesigning the layout, the pantry was transformed from outdated storage into a highly functional, entertainment-ready feature. The addition of a second dishwasher, sink, and wine cooler enhances convenience, while the updated design brings a clean, modern feel. Throughout the transformation, the integrity of the home’s natural travertine flooring was preserved.
The result is a seamless, thoughtfully designed space that supports how the homeowners live today while elevating the overall flow and experience of the home.
